Dutch and Bronte

I was watching a panel of the voice actors recently and Ben Davis (Dutch) had some really insightful comments on when/how Dutch went insane. He points to the scene where he drowns Bronte and feeds him to the gators. Basically the reason Dutch hates Bronte with such a fiery and over the top passion is because Bronte represents "the bankruptcy of Dutch's ideals".

Essentially, Bronte IS what Dutch HOPES to become. He is extremely wealthy, and he lives outside the law. He's got his trusted henchmen around him and he is respected and feared. And Dutch finds Bronte REPULSIVE.

So basically, he was always a little bit insane throughout the story, but Dutch's " tipping point" was meeting and getting to know Angelo Bronte. It was then he realized the type of scum he, unknowingly until that point, wanted to become. It's why he kills Bronte so brutally and displays such irrational anger at him. Chronologically, it follows. From that point in the game on, Dutch descent to evil is quick, as he's totally lost his direction.
