Pearson Appreciation Post

As a former chef I always had a soft spot for Pearson. The writers did such a great job of capturing the essence of a real chef in his character.

Prickly, prideful, nobodies favorite, could talk plenty of crap, and from time to time liked to exaggerate the stories of his past.

But can we just appreciate this mans purpose was to feed a gang of outlaws. It doesn't matter what is going on, Pearson was proudly cooking up dinner till the very end.

As I finished chapter 6 on high honor I saw Pearson sitting behind his wagon, just as he finished the stew, head in his hands. When I started talking to him, he's wiping tears away from his eyes. As I talked to him, I felt he was taking things harder than anyone.

His whole purpose was being thrown away. His family. The people he cared for so much. Spent his life just making sure they were fed well, he didn't want to take sides. He was in shock, confused, gutted and grief stricken by the end. Heartbroken the family he put sweat and hard work in to take care of was breaking up and he was going to be left with nothing, no family and no one to cook for.

Being a chef is humble but proud work and his pride was being taken away because of others inabilities to get along.

After a long and heartbreaking conversation that brought me to tears with him that day before the gangs final ride together, he wiped away his tears, got up, and puts on a cheery voice yells to the camp

"COME AND GET IT WHILE ITS HOT!"

As long as they were eating he was happy.

After chapter six I went back to chapter two in another play through and started greeting Pearson.

First thing Arthur says is "You know Pearson, nobody appreciates all the hard work you do for us"

Next time Arthur says to him something like "You're doing a great job Pearson I just thought that you should know that"

Brought a tear to my eye.

Pearson was one of the best men in the gang imo. Even if he was out of pocket giving Sadie shit.
