I went back to mountain where Arthur died, and on my way up I noticed a little something. The exact* spot that my horse went down in the final mission is now marked by a appropriately sized patch of flowers.

RIP Bane, my big grumbly baby. You were the best.

*Edit: Apparently by "exact" I meant "adjacent" and it turns out that your horse dies right next to a vaguely horse-shaped and horse-sized patch of flowers and I totally didn't see them in the cutscene. Forgive me friends, for I am a fool and a sham :(
