All common questions about the game should be directed here. This includes both single-player and online questions. When asking a question, it is often beneficial to share which mode you are referring to in order to get an accurate response. Also consider sharing any relevant information that may help someone answer your question.

All story spoilers must be displayed with the proper format:

If you're not sure if you should use a spoiler tag or not, err on the side of caution and use one. Also, it's a nice gesture to visibly indicate the general nature of your spoiler before the tag, so people know what you're spoiling.

“some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.”

This game always looks like a tech demo or a trailer, but it's actually playable and it blows my mind everytime.

[Don’t read this post if you have not completed the game] I personally feel as if Arthur Morgan is hands-down the greatest protagonist Rockstar has ever created, and it will be difficult to surpass him.

It's not solely because of his character arc, which is beautiful and gut-wrenching, but then sheer amount of time you spend with him, and how intimate those moments are. Feeding him, cleaning him, shaving or letting your hair grow out, visiting camp, having conversations, everyone forms their own unique bonds with their Arthur's, and in a way, form our own versions of his story.

He sings to himself when riding around, lets his arm randomly hang to the side when trotting on your horse, says "shit" if you slip and fall on something, or sighs depressingly after you kill someone who tried to shoot you while robbing them ("You should've just given it to me" he says). He can be fat, thin, stocky, or average, he can be dishonorable to the world but loyal to the gang, or a kind-hearted person struggling with the the life he chose, we add our own layers to the intriguing personality he already has.

And then he gets sick, and out of the games I've played in my life, I've genuinely never been caught off-guard more than falling off my horse in Saint Denis a month after release (and this is coming from a guy who played Mass Effect 2 all the way to the final mission before he knew squad members could die lol). I actually took forever doing some quests in my first playthrough, so I didn't know he was sick for at least two weeks. I kept trying to figure out why his face looked funny after Guarma, but I figured it was my eyes readjusting to his non-sun burnt model and it would be fine eventually. I even completely forgot about the Thomas Downes quest because I was so caught up and overwhelmed with the game he was an afterthought until the TB kicked in.

Pushing the barn doors open with John is definitely a saddening gaming moment, but spending hours on end with Arthur in his weaker state, constantly coughing and hacking when you eat, cores draining quicker, the animation of his voice replaced with something raspier and colder, the depressed and dead members of camp, its genuinely disheartening.

Even a year after release, I can't push myself to get past Chapter 3 because I don't want to see things fall apart in his world again. But hey, there's my spill on Arthur, how do y'all feel about him?

If you haven't gotten Arthur day-drunk and been judged by the whole camp, then you haven't truly played Red Dead Redemption 2.
