    Dutch's downfall theory. [SPOILERS]

    My fiance and I have been playing this game like three times over and we noticed something that may be one of the reasons why Dutch went from a competent camp leader to a an emotionally unstable maniac.

    Ok so here goes. After chapter 3, with Shaun's death, Jack's kidnapping and Pinkertons getting closer and closer to the gang dutch would probably want to relax and he doesn't seem like a person that would drown his sorrows in whisky. We think that Dutch would want to go for something more premium. What do we mean by that? Cocaine, specifically Cocaine gum. It can be found in dutch's room in chapter 4 in shady belle.

    Dutch in chapter 4 always is on edge and only seems to be calm twice. Once in the mayor's party (clearly trying to fit in) and when Jack came back. Other than that dutch's behaviour was getting worse and worse and after Bronte's death showing dutch's true colours we can see that Dutch's theorised addiction could make him crave a bigger fix.

    In chapter 5 Dutch went to guarma and what didn't go with Dutch... Cocaine! In guarma Dutch didn't have his fix and going cold turkey wasn't in his plan (no pun intended). Also many addicts when pulled away from their fix get really anxious and suspicious which would explain why Dutch killed the old lady in guarma. (off topic here. Why did Dutch or Arthur not take that gold bar back?!) Anyways after dutch returned to US of A he couldn't get his favorite flavour of 5 gum as he was still wanted and pretty far away from a shop that would supply him anything... Plus if he went out alone casually either Murfee brood would get him or the Pinkertons would.

    In the end we believe that Dutch's life went south (again no pun intended) and resorted to drugs for comfort as molly just annoyed him and after it went out of hand he was unable to continue with it which only made things even worse.

    PS. The head injury he got in chapter 5 after robbing a trolley station theory plus Cocaine addiction theory combined make an even more solid argument.
