How Arthur Morgan managed to save me from a deep depression

    Posted: 29 Jan 2021 01:41 AM PST

So to keep a long story short, I have been dealing with depression for a very long time. It was always manageable, but I have totally spiraled out once a relationship I was in ended in August 2019. Since then, I have dropped out of college, stopped talking to most people I knew and I just isolated myself in my room and wanted to die every single day. I bought Read Dead Redemption 2 the day it came out on PC because I loved the original one and finished it like three times when I was a kid. I was super excited to see those characters again! Arthur's story of him and Mary Linton reminded me of myself and my ex all too much and gave me some much-needed peace at that time. I got all the way to Chapter 6 before the pandemic hit and then I spiraled even further so I stopped playing games and doing basically anything altogether. Ever since the fall of 2020, I have been trying to get back on track and I even managed to get accepted to my dream Uni. Recently I started playing games and doing my hobbies again and I really wanted to finally finish RDR2 because I didn't want to miss out. When I got to Arthur's last mission I was not emotionally prepared for what was about to come. But there was one final gift that Arthur Morgan left me and I will treasure it forever. When he put his hat on John's head and told him to "Get the hell out of here and be a goddamn man!" I was just hit with so many emotions. In a way, I saw it as Arthur telling me that I'm all grown up now and have to take care of myself, get out of my room and get my shit together, but also that he believed that I could do it. I am just so thankful. I am back to feeling like my old self after 2 goddamn years and I have just finished the last of my exams for this semester and I gotta say, my results are pretty damn near perfect. I have also applied to a bunch of jobs and I'm waiting to hear from them.

Thank you Arthur, Thank you Roger Clark, Thank you to the very talented Rockstar dev team. Couldn't do it without you.

Epilogue: blew up Pearson’s shop with dynamite, he ran to his horse and started riding away, I chased him and jumped onto the back of his horse. We’ve been riding around like this for 10 minutes now.
