Red Dead Redemption This is one of the more depressing random encounters I’ve stumbled upon. Even Arthur felt awful.

To this day I still don’t understand how very few see Dutch as the main antagonist and give him a free pass (spoilers for the main story)

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 02:03 PM PDT

Everyone says "It's Micah because he's a rat" and ignore all Dutch did to the gang

Any argument I hear for why it's Micah is dumb and doesn't hold up at all. For one most use fan theories and saying "they're not theories, they're 100% confirmed", mainly him always being a rat. They state how he selected the location of Clemens Point for a camp…except he didn't. His location was Dewberry Creek, and then later they decided instead to move in at Clemens Point

Let's see what Dutch did on his own accord, with 0 influence from Micah in decision making

    1. Rob Cornwall, a man Hosea said was powerful and dangerous and advised against. People blame this decision on Micah despite how HE WASN'T EVEN THERE WHEN DUTCH MADE THE DECISION

    2. Attacking Braithwaite manor, a central location in a town that would go noticed by the locals

    3. Kill Bronte. MICAH WASN'T EVEN IN THE BOAT WHEN IT HAPPENED

    4. Rob the St. Denis bank after: robbing Cornwall, having a shootout in Valentine as a result of robbing Cornwall, assaulting the manor, and killing a high profile figure, all while he knows that the Pinkertons and Cornwall are tracking him.

    5. Manipulate an entire tribe of Native Americans into essentially a slaughter just so they can "make some noise" and then leave unharmed

    6. Leave Arthur behind to die. I would say John too but since someone will say Micah's mere presence forced Dutch to I won't

And if you paid attention, you realize that Dutch was suspecting a rat for St. Denis during Guarma, which remind you Micah ratted AFTER Guarma. So right there it shows the reason he believed a rat existed isn't because there was one as much as his own ego.

"But Milton was lying"…WHY!?!?! Milton has the upper hand, he only dies because Abigail got free. Milton has a gun to a dying man and the only other people who could attack him are tied up. He has the upper hand, why would he lie?

"He's lying to protect the truth from the audience" (yes, an actual argument I heard) At that point you're saying the writers are lying just so you can keep your fan theory alive

"But you see, the final standoff is against Micah therefore he has to be the main antagonist" That…isn't even an argument.

Dutch is the one keeping everyone unsafe, Dutch is the one who keeps screwing up and letting folks die, Dutch is the main antagonist

Micah is just a sociopath who's hateable, Dutch is the real antagonist

    Seriously, fuck you Dutch

I watched Django: Unchained (2012) today and came across this very familiar scene... It's almost hard to think that Rockstar games didn't find inspiration from this movie for rdr2.
