Perfect Pelt question (no spoilers please) Posted: 04 Dec 2021 11:23 AM PST I am on my first playthrough in the middle of Chapter 2. I was wondering if this would be the right time to try to get the perfect pelts to increase my satchel size. I know I can't maximize deadeye until later in the game. Is it worth it to try to get the perfect pelts now or should that be done later in the game? No spoilers please! Thanks for the help! [link] [comments]

The parallels of Dutch between RDR1 and RDR2 Posted: 04 Dec 2021 07:33 AM PST Holy shit, my mind was blown after this! For context, i'm currently doing my second full play through of RDR2 I just finished the mission where Arthur and Dutch help Eagle Flies ambush an army caravan before being chased to cliff, where they both escape by jumping from the cliff into the river below. The monologue that dutch gives to the army cavalry officer prior to jumping is a direct parallel to the first half of his monologue to John at Cochinay in Tall Trees in RDR1. From his quintessential catchphrase "I've got a plan," which he said to both Arthur and John, to his talk about not being able to fight nature, change, or gravity, it is a direct parallel between the two. But then, it gets even better. In RDR2, that's where the monologue ends and Arthur and Dutch jump. But in RDR1, John challenges him to stop fighting when Dutch says that he's fought his whole life. It is at this point that Dutch's dialogue indicates that he is contemplating everything that Arthur had been telling him throughout RDR2. He wrestles with the fact that he can't stop fighting, just like Arthur couldn't stop fighting. Being an outlaw is who he is and he can't stop, even though it would be better for him and everyone around him. It is his nature, as it was Arthur's. But he also comments that the government will always find another monster, demonstrating that he still the same philosophical Dutch that we saw through 2. Finally, it culminates in him saying "Our time has passed, John," which is EXACTLY what Arthur had been wondering aloud to him the entire game. It ends with him letting himself fall one last time. It's a spectacular bit of writing that I don't think is coincidental. These two speeches lining up, and the character development of Dutch seems so intentional and is fantastically pulled off. I'm sure someone else has made this connection already but I had to share just how blown away I am. Writing a good prequel is really difficult and this just shows how expertly Rockstar handled RDR2. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk. [link] [comments]

There should be a legendary animal in the slums of Saint Denis. Posted: 03 Dec 2021 04:30 PM PST Imagine yourself casually strolling the busy streets of Saint Denis late at night. You decide to take a shortcut through a narrow ally and suddenly your controller shakes mysteriously. Investigating the scene leads to a horrifying sight. A dog with its guts all over the floor, flies surrounding the carcass. This leads you to another clue with ends in witnessing a 30-40 pound rat feasting on a dead horse in the darkest of corners. In that moment it locks eyes with you and (depending on your honour) either flees or jolts at you with the intent of ripping you to pieces. A rat tail trinket (necklace) can be acquired if successful. It gives you a 15% increased running speed and 10% health during night. Haven't thought of anything you could craft with its pelt yet. Get creative! Thanks 🙏 [link] [comments]
